Every yr , humanity turns off the Light for Earth Hour . Well , some of humanity . As we learnedduring this calendar week ’s Shooting Challenge , a pile of people leave the light on .

Took this moving-picture show of the Vincent Thomas Bridge in San Pedro , CA while on the way home . It ’s usually very brightly lit at night so it ’s interesting to see it with only the base hit light on for Earth Hour . Taken with a Sony Nex-6 .

For my Earth Hour picture , I could n’t think of a well spot . I was hoping for more participation from the border buildings but you have to take what you could get . This photo was taken with my Nikon D7000 , 15 sec , f/8 at ISO 100 using a 35 millimeter lense . I also adapt the curved shape in Photoshop just a fiddling .

The look-alike was captured at about 9 postmortem , but it was actually the mean solar day before Earth Hour . I liked the way of life that the tree diagram had just enough light on it from a nearby street lamp for my Nokia Lumia 635 to get a useable picture . It was then globally march in Paint.net 4.0.5 for color , dividing line and intensity to convey out a small more detail .

Inspired by your contest and armed with my new Canon G7X and tripod , I point out of doors into the cold and go on to take a bit of images of nearby houses , the moon , the mavin and cloud with exposure times drift from 15 seconds to 2 minutes . It was freezing cold , and the clouds drift in and flurries started to fall down , so I went back inside . sooner , I distinguish my family about Earth Hour , and they had espouse the idea . The TV was off , the electronic tablet were put away , the lights were off , and the kids were reading existent books by candlelight . I took the tv camera off of the tripod , set it on a good deal of books , and set the aperture for at narrow-minded astuteness of area ( f/1.8 ) . I took a number of photograph at various shutter speeds , but the 1/4 second shutter speed leave the backcloth underexposed and isolated the nipper faces in the darkness .

Well this challenge was tough to fritter away . I tried to photograph the small dipper , I mean you could see it on the left centerfield . I used a Nikon1 J1 , on manual mode with ISO 3200 , with a 10 2d exposure and f/4.8 .

I have taken pictures from this spot before and I knew it would give me a courteous shot of Denver for this weeks challenge . spud on a Canon T3i using the kit lens with a inert tightness 1.2 filter . ISO 100 , 43 mm focal distance , f/5 , 4 hour shutter .

I ’m presently in Venice on holiday , and brought my trustworthy 6D with me . For earth 60 minutes , Venice shut off the lights in St Mark ’s Square and the surrounding area . Here you could see the Campanile and other buildings with their lights off in contrast with the other island to the where light stay well-lighted on a statue . study with a 6D. 105 mm , ISO 1250 , f/4.0 , 0.5s exposure . Used one of those rickety wooden tree - holding posts as a stand .
