Grande recently admitted on theZach Sang Showthat she had no intention of working on new musicuntil at least 2025.

“I actually was really opposed to coming out with music until post-Wicked, either both parts or just one part. I wasn’t sure how I would feel,” she said during the interview.

But after the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes shut down the movie musical’s production, the star found herself back in the studio with hitmakerMax Martin.

When the music “started pouring out” and the “Dangerous Woman” singer kept returning to work on more material, she figured, “Maybe it should come out if it’s coming out of me this way.”
