BomBots are small-scale automaton that are project to deliver different payloads in areas of conflict , most recently in Iraq . Because of their relatively cheap Leontyne Price ( $ 5,000 ) , the U.S. military scooped up a whole cluster of them to assist in the state of war effort . Their diminished sizing ( only 22 inches tall and 15 pound ) make them ideal for closed - quarters urban combat .
The product of several dissimilar military projects coming together , let in those by the Air Force Research Laboratory and Naval Explosive Ordinance Disposal Technology Division , the BomBot are able-bodied to mix into a squad quite easy since it can locomote at 35 mile per hour .
Most interestingly is that one of the fundamental developers of the BomBot — Alex Gizis — antecedently worked on build remote controls for RC cars . Gizis went over to Defense Tech HQ to show a automaton off , sans explosive . What you see here is the calm before the tempest : only minutes after , the BomBot threw a pettishness tantrum and destroy all of Defense Tech ’s precious china . For shame .
