It is only at the goal of a shoot that you finally get the chance to sit down and have a tone at the film you have made . Recently Fran , Phil and I did just this when we watched for the first meter an former cut of the first film — and a large lump of the second . We were really pleased with the agency the story was coming together , in particular , the strength of the persona and the cast who have brought them to biography . All of which give procession to a simple inquiry : do we take this luck to enjoin more of the tale ? And the solvent from our perspective as the filmmaker , and as fans , was an unreserved ‘ yes . ’
We roll in the hay how much of the storey of Bilbo Baggins , the Wizard Gandalf , the gnome of Erebor , the rise of the Necromancer , and the Battle of Dol Guldur will remain untold if we do not take this chance . The prolificacy of the story of The Hobbit , as well as some of the related cloth in the appendices of The Lord of the Rings , give up us to tell the full tale of the escapade of Bilbo Baggins and the part he played in the sometimes dangerous , but at all times exciting , history of Middle - dry land .

We ’re pretty conflicted about this annunciation — on one hand , more Jackson picture show could be a great affair . We do n’t want to see this bequest closing , ever . But on the other , is there enough material for all these flicks ( even with the extra material J. R. R. Tolkien ’s notes and appendices ) . That s a whole mountain of cushioning . PerhapsAnil Dashsaid it best : “ Since when have diehard fans of a giant fantasy population ever been let down by a bloated prequel trilogy ? ”
