A few weeks ago I had the discrete pleasance of seeing Daryl Hall and John Oates in concert . But when they performed what is probably my favourite Hall & Oates song , “ I Ca n’t Go For That , ” I was n’t digging their live arrangement . I recognize it ’s because this version , recorded in Hall ’s service department , will credibly be my darling forever .
This version , starring the duo Chromeo , is part of the World Wide Web seriesLive from Daryl ’s House , where Hall has musicians of all grade insignia join him at his upstate New York demesne to jam ( he now has aclub and eatery , as well as ahome - renovation show , Daryl ’s Restoration Over - Hall ) . Artists play mostly their own songs on the show , but the best part is seeing each Edgar Albert Guest sway out a classic Hall & Oates melody . So if this particular interlingual rendition does n’t strike a chord with you , maybe you ’ll likeCee - Lo ’s take instead .
