Producer Avi Arad offer this slightly strange quote that seems to suggest a undefined link between Marc Webb ’s reboot and the Sam Raimi movies :
“ It ’s not a counter . You have to wait at it this way of life : Do you want to know more about Spider - Man ? This movie is going to tell stories that you did n’t see in movie 1 , 2 , and 3 . ”
Now , before anyone get excited ( or dismayed ) about some Star Trek style narrative trickery to make everything hang up together , this probably just means the moving-picture show ( and its possible sequel ) wo n’t be retell stories or revisiting characters that we ’ve already seen , and that it ’s generally in keeping with the tone of the early movies . So , you be intimate , it could outfit into the earlier continuity , if that ’s something you really cared about .
Or , to front at it even more simply , Arad just mean this new movie is n’t a radically different take on the webslinger than what we ’ve come across before … even though thing like the apparent switch back to mechanically skillful WWW - shooter or the seemingly different treatment of Gwen Stacy compared to her portrayal in Spider - Man 3 really reach it seem as though they ’re just separate continuities ( and those are just two of the more obvious example ) .
