Meghan MarkleandPrince Harry’s latest date night had a surprising tie to another member of the royal family.
On May 7, Perry, 39, sang at theCoronation Concert, held the day afterKing CharlesandQueen Camilla’s crowning at Westminster Abbey (which she also attended). The special show was held on the grounds of Windsor Castle and welcomed 20,000 guests and members of the public to celebrate the historic occasion with an evening of entertainment. The “Firework” singer wasn’t the onlyAmerican Idoljudge who hit the stage — so didLionel Richie— and both have known Charles for years through charity work.
Perry has served as an ambassador of The British Asian Trust, which the King co-founded to tackle poverty and transform lives in South Asia, since 2020, while Richie was appointed theFirst Global Ambassadorand First Chairman of the Global Ambassador Group for The Prince’s Trust in 2019. Other performers at the Coronation Concert includedAndrea Bocelli, Take That, Sir Bryn Terfel, Freya Ridings and Alexis Ffrench.

King Charles, Queen Camilla,Prince William,Kate Middleton,Prince GeorgeandPrincess Charlottewere all in attendance during the epic show, whereBBCcameras caught 8-year-old Charlotte singing along to Perry’s anthem “Roar."
King Charles and Queen Camilla even made asurprise appearance onAmerican Idolwith Perry and Richie.
Prince Harry did not attend the Coronation Concert, as hetraveled back to Californiaafter the crowning ceremony on May 6 — which was also his sonPrince Archie’s4th birthday. The Duke of Sussex, 39, was in the U.K. solo while Meghan, 42, stayed back stateside with their children Prince Archie andPrincess Lilibet, 2.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex relocated to Meghan’s home state after stepping back from their royal roles in 2020 and ultimately settled in Montecito. The couple are neighbors with Perry and Bloom in the Santa Barbara enclave, and Prince Harry previously revealed that he and the Pirates of the Caribbean actorstay in touchabout paparazzi sightings.
“Just two days ago, Orlando Bloom sent me a message — because he’s just down the road and we sort of keep in contact because of the paparazzi,” the Duke of Sussex said while appearing on Dax Shepard’sArmchair Expertpodcastin May 2021.

In another Montecito connection, Harry, Meghan, Perry and Bloom were all guests ofEllen DeGeneres’vow renewalto Portia de Rossi in February. The former host ofThe Ellen DeGeneres Showand her wife also live in Montecito, whereKris Jennerofficiated the surprise home ceremony for what most thought was a 50th birthday party for de Rossi.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Perry and Bloom wished the couple well alongsideGwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston,Carol Burnett,Courteney Cox,Melissa Etheridgeand more.
It was widely reported that Prince Harry and Meghan flew to Perry’s Las Vegas show at Resorts World Theatre on Saturday with Diaz, Madden and Saldana.
The night out also doubled as Harry and Meghan’s latest concert date. On Sept. 1, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped out for Beyoncé’sfirst Los Angeles showof the Renaissance World Tour at SoFi Stadium in L.A. with Meghan’s momDoria Ragland. As seen in a photoposted on social media, the trio was spotted in a private box — and all wore shades of silver! The32-time Grammy winnerhad asked that her fans all wear “fabulous silver fashions to the shows 8.23 - 9.22” in honor of her 42nd birthday on Sept. 4.
Meghan and Doria were seen smiling and dancing as they waved their arms in the air from a private box overlooking the stadium while Harry watched on.

The Duchess of Sussex attended the Renaissance World Tour again on Sept. 4, where she posed for a photo withKelly RowlandandKerry Washington.
In conversation withHello!magazine, Rowland opened up about what it was like to spend time with Meghan.
“It was my first time meeting her. It was just nice being there with other great women and being able to just simply talk,” theDestiny’s Childalum said at a WaterWipes event in Brooklyn in October.
“I don’t know what people expect to see or to know, but she just felt very cool and very down to earth. She is very warm,” she added.
